Bill Cosby was a jazz fan, so his fame allowed him to indulge in occasional albums of this kind. I had once such album, the excellent Where You Lay Your Head 1990. One really interesting album that preceeded that was Badfoot Brown & The Bunions Bradford Funeral and Marching Band 1971, perhaps a play on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. In 1971 he put out Badfoot Brown and the Bunion Bradfords Funeral Marching Band, music he got inspired to write when Martin Luther King was murdered in 1968. Sealed new CD of this in the US can be had at the Dusty Groove site for only a ten spot...looks like three times more here at the moment, at least if you are stateside and seeking it....

Two long improvisational and funky ramblings. Reminds me two Les McCann albums I love: Invitation to Openness and Layers. Ain't that a compliment ?
Mr_Mix
yes a compliment to whoever plays behind Cosby. is it the watts 103rd street band? Invitation to Openness is so nice.

Two epic tracks (a fast one and a slow one) of astral jazz. Bill Cosby must have drafted in some heavyweight sessionmen for this date but he plays some serious keyboards himself on this 1971 odyssey. One of those cds that I like to put on and then just press 'repeat' and let it go round for a few dozen plays. It's funny - but even after playing it all day... when it finishes I can hardly remember anything about it apart from it was good.

First off I just want to know who came up with that bass line on Martin's track . . . heard for the first time only moments ago and I'm absolutely mesmerized!
Innadril
Wish I knew the entire line-up, but Sonny Sharrock told me that he plays on it.
