Crushing is a heart-breaking collection of - at times - painfully intimate, autobiographical songs of life, love, break-ups and human fragility the weight of emotions wrought in each masterful compositions reflects the album's title, but underscoring this cathartic release, everything will ultimately be fine. Elsewhere on Crushing, Jacklin brings her exacting reflection to songs on loss. With its transportive harmonies and slow-burning guitar solo, Dont Know How to Keep Loving You ponders the heartache in fading affection I want your mother to stay friends with mineI want this feeling to pass in time . Throughout Crushing, that sense of confidence manifests in one of the most essential elements of the album: the captivating strength of Jacklins lyrics. Not only proof of her ingenuity and artistic generosity, Jacklins uncompromising specificity and infinitely unpredictable turns of phrase ultimately spring from a certain self-possession in the songwriting process. The album tackles themes such as isolation on tour and sexism within the boys club that is the modern music industry. Many of the songs also deal with a breakup that Jacklin herself initiated. She explains: There are so many songs that you can hear that are all about being broken up with or wanting someone back, or telling someone to go away. On her second album, Julia Jacklin is discovering her body, and she just wants to see it for herself. Give me a full-length mirrorSo I can see the whole picture, the Australian singer-songwriter implores My head alone gives nothing away. Across 10 songs, Jacklin examines relationships in crisis, all the while fighting to center herself in the viewfinder and repossess her body, heart, and mind. Do you still have that photograph Would you use it to hurt me asks Australian indie rocker Julia Jacklin, against the menacing throb of Body. The tension is stormy: imagine a mid-period Fleetwood Mac song, covered by Cat Power. Its a masterclass in narrative songwriting. Город: Jacklin. The dual senses of that word hang heavy in the title of this Sydney singer-songwriters second album, which ruminates on infatuations turned millstones over haunted Americana and garage rock. So yes: a barrel of laughs. But truly, in among the scab- and finger-picking and lines that creep into your ear and needle Do you still have that photograph Would you use it to hurt me Jacklin wonders among the watercolour chord progressions of Body are indeed blasts of bitter humour

Absolutely agree with jlipari627. The green vinyl with swirl is beautiful and the lyrics inside the gatefold add to the experience.
Sound quality is 10/10, as is the album <3
This is an exceptional pressing, the quality is beautiful and the sound is crystal clear. Julia is an extraordinary talent her songwriting and voice are truly magical.
This album is absolutely beautiful. Pressing is superb and sound quality is great, not to mention the vinyl is gorgeous.
Sound is quite good on this one. Rainbo can be pretty hit or miss, but has admittedly been more "hit" for me lately, which is encouraging (Procol Harum - Procol Harum being another example).
