Despite a brief disbandment at the beginning of the 1950s, the band survived long past the Big Band era itself and the death of Basie in 1984. It continues as a 'ghost band'. I have recently purchased a Columbia Test Pressing that has Count Bassie and Paul Robeson hand written on one side. No title or record number is on the record. The numbers 31373 and 31374 are stamped into the record between the grooves and the label. The verse starts "Black eyed peas and cornbread, what makes you so strong." It's clear that by this time Columbia has control of OKeh so it's a good bet I have an early copy.
