I'm pretty sure Mentasm was first. There's even some evidence to suggest it was recorded in 1990!Given that the whole "Hoover" sound is accredited to Mentasm, I think it's safe to assume it was the first.Same thing as Anasthasia. So many tracks in '91 had that stab, but it's common knowledge that T99 "invented" it (although I remember hearing a Kate Bush track from the mid-80's which had an eerily similar sound, buried deep in the mix).The Mentasm & Anasthasia sounds were formed by tweaking synth presets (if I recall correctly, on the Roland Alpha Juno).You're quite right, Emmanuel Top (as well as Sanchioni to a slightly lesser extent) made some incredible Belgian Techno. Top class stuff!

Do you know which actually came first, Mentasm or this? Beltram gets all the credit from the era, and not without justification. But Bruno Sanchioni & Emmanuel Top - especially Emmanuel Top should be on the same level at least...
