Woman - The Doors. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Woman is the sixth studio album by the American rock band the Doors, released on April 19, 1971, on Elektra Records. It is the last to feature lead singer Jim Morrison during his lifetime due to his death three months after the album's release, though he would posthumously appear on the 1978 album An American Prayer. Even more so than its predecessors, the album is heavily influenced by blues. It was recorded without record producer Paul A. Rothchild after he fell out with the group over the. Woman is the sixth and last studio album that the American rock & roll band The Doors recorded with lead singer Jim Morrison, who died in July 1971. The album's style is arguably the most blues rock -oriented of the band's catalogue. Following the departure of their record producer Paul A. Rothchild who dismissed the group's differing style as cocktail music around November 1970, the Doors and engineer Bruce Botnick began production on the album at The Doors Wor. The sixth studio album and the final album with Jim Morrison in their lineup, L. Woman is by far The Doors' most blues-oriented. Released April 19th, 1971 through Elektra Records, the album peaked at the ninth spot on the Billboard 200. Morrisons poetic ardor is undiminished and his vocal performance is unwavering in its enthusiasm, while the group as a whole returned to their original blues rock roots. The seven-minute title track was a car-cruising classic that celebrated both the glamour and seediness of Los Angeles the other long cut, the brooding and jazzy Riders on the Storm . Album 1971 10 Songs. Woman was Jim Morrison's sixth and final studio album with The Doors. It's an inspired set of blues-based material that transcends the genre with Morrison's otherworldly intensity. His psychedelic influences are still at work on the tribal The WASP Texas Radio and the Big Beat and in the wonderfully bizarre Hyacinth House, where he proclaims, I see the bathroom is clear. Hello there! I bought a brand new vinyl copy of "L.A. Woman" recently and I can't find this pressing here on Discogs. Can anybody help me with that? It's definitely a reissue, it has 'Made In Germany' on the labels, but the cover is more like US release, a band name "DOORS" with white letters and a yellow pic of a band. The barcode is on a sticker on the foil, the number is 0 075596 032810. It really can't be find here on Discogs, I'd be grateful for any help. Thank You!
Konetav
Excellent pressing. Dead quiet between tracks and punchy rich sound throughout. Excellent “original” packaging too
Ariurin
Would EKS-75011 B-1 CP on the second side be this same album?
Dark_Sun
Any remarks, reviews about the sound quality of this pressing??
Flas
"320" in runout groove means that it was pressed from tapes. The sound is clear and 3D almost. Very good pressing until the end of last track with no IDG like on Rhino pressing by Bernie Grundman. Shame that it is not with printed inner sleeve or this fancy transparent window cover but, the music is the king on this one.
Runeterror
Tremendo!! Wow 10/10 best version i heard ever from LA Woman.. never had the chance of listen a 1st american.. but wow this album sounds good .. clear, huge sound stage and dead quiet background!!! A must for every Doors fanaticThe whole serie of analogue productions is top!!
Qumen
Jim and the band's masterpiece. Something magical about the "recorded in a room quality". "Hyacinth House" is godly.
Vuzahn
Great pressing and a true classic Doors album. Despite being the last before the passing of Jimmy Morrison, I would rank this as #1 or #2 as the best Doors album. LA Woman and Riders in the Storm are the highlights.
Aver
Oh yeah. The thing about the Doors is that their career was like an inverse-bell curve. The 1st and last albums are the best. The two in the middle are the weakest (though still with lots of highlights.)
Shakagul
This CD was released in 1988 (1988-11-10) according to the date on OBI.
Breder
On my copy, side 2 is significantly quieter than side 1. I assume that this is the result of fitting a lot of music on one side, but it also could be a manufacturing defect. Does anyone know more about this?
Eigeni
This sounds just like my original copy, except it doesn't have the cracks and surface noise from being played so much over the years.
misery
Simply stunning. An extravagance worth turning over 3 times for!
Modimeena
An amazing album. I've been listening to him for 25 years and I wouldn't change anything
Golden Lama
Just listening to this wonderful album. Bought this reel from ebay and its worth every penny. Even after so many years of use and wear sounds wonderful.
Quinthy
I have a copy with the same long matrix/runout but the diecut window cover with crucifix inner sleeve and embossed Doors just like the first issues. Anyone else?
Mamuro
My US, 1971, EKS-7011 Stereo version is different on the label. It is like the Canadian but printed in US.
Saberdragon
Wow. Wow wow wow. And one more wow to fill the character quota.
The Rollers of Vildar
hello all...is there a mono version of this album? thanks
Castiel
No, it was only ever mixed in stereo. The only mono editions are unofficial "fold down" mixes of the stereo copy.
Kefrannan
For its price,an excellent record!Clear as the blue sky and clean like a diamond! No noise on this one,try it outloud!
sobolica
I think i have a new variant, but unsure and was hoping some would be able to help. My version is like the one linked below in almost every way, but my version has the Doors logo on the label and the sides numbers are written out (as in "side one" and "side two). Am i blind or is this a new version?https://www.discogs.com/The-Doors-LA-Woman/release/5137092

I think that this sounds great. I picked it up from Amazon for under $15 and it is well worth it. Supposedly the packaging is a replica of the original. BG did a great job here and I'm sure that the AP release sounds better, but it is so expensive! The album is one of my favorites of all time.
Yellow Judge
I agree Im selling my original, the remaster sounds amazing on Heavy Vinyl[Rhino]
Ygglune
Awesome pressing! The Keys sound awesome. Great price I'm sure the AP is great but this was under $15
Snowskin
I've heard good things about this 2003 pressing. I was on the fence between this one and the 2012 Analogue Productions 2LP 45rpm release. I pulled the trigger and went with the 2003 pressing (not a fan of flipping the 2LP 45rpm after every couple songs). Although I can't compare with the AP release, the 2003 release far exceeded my expectations! Very nice detail and channel separation in particular is impressive! Also packaging is spot on with the window cover and yellow inner.
Kalv
Got a similar version, everything matches, but with a SACEM logo on the left part of the label. Can't find it anywhere
Ndav
This German issue sounds absolutely heavenly. It's detailed and intimate, full and bold and has a beautiful broad spectrum analog sound. Jim's vocals are dynamic and warm. The bass is powerful and defined. Mid range excellent, nice saturated guitar tone. Realistic percussion. High quality, flawless pressing. Really exceptional sound on this; you can get a NM copy for a good price.
Vaua
This sounds amazing, Nicely crisp with very nice bass, No loud pops or skips. Nosurface noise at all to my ears. Buy with confidence folks!
Erthai
Hello, I can't find my version. From what I can mostly tell it's an early 70s reissue, it has the butterfly label, no barcode, non-rounded corners and the yellow picture isn't see through.Matrices:Side A: (SRC logo) EKS-75011 A-11 SP 3c (circled) 1-5Side B: EKS-75011 B-13 SP 3c (circled) ESR 1-5 (SRC logo)Help would be appreciated.

Anyone have any insight on version with hype sticker that mentions both ‘love her madly’ and riders on the storm?’ I have one that matches everything described here but in shrink with both titles mentioned on hype sticker. Appears that hype sticker with just ‘love her madly’ is more common.
Gaeuney
Are you selling it ? Do you still have itit
LØV€ YØỮ
That is a promo lp probably has a white label , I have one
Ganthisc
I have this version but the yellow crucifix insert is not rounded. I can't find an example of this. All else matches.
you secret
Just bought a copy of this album with a pressing error: the label is the same on both sides (Side A), I think I got a “special” copy now :-) and it sounds really good!

L.A. Woman is not an album, it’s a Raymond Chandler novel set to music. And if you haven’t listened to these songs in a SRO hotel, one overlooking the Strip with no screen in the fourth floor corner window, cheap vintage chenille bedspread on metal springs, with the bathroom down the hall ... then you haven’t contextually heard it … and I should know, I still have Room Key #42, and a no longer working Sony cassette deck. This was The Doors' most pivotal album in that the songs flexed and ebbed through a variety of sonic channels, mixed with unprecedented ingredients, gathered relentless bits of music from across the radio dial ... then dealt them out like worn playing cards, who’s tattered and marked edges merely hinted at what was coming next. Though with that in mind, I doubt Morrison even knew what was waiting on the other side of the street, and that in itself made this album inspirational, a slice of freeform poetry and shattered imagery hanging in an ether that never seemed to give way to morning’s light. Most people aren’t gonna see things this way, but for me, L.A. Woman was a highway, or bridge between the floral psychedelic 60’s, and the tragic decade that was waiting just out of sight, where the mysticism and the magic gave way to a wasteland we’ve yet to crawl out of.Without a doubt, “Hyacinth House” was the unexpected gem from this album, a song that still lives to haunt me, and was covered intoxicatingly well by Cheval Sombre, where the number was redefined and came across with even more emotional shivers. The odd thing about “Hyacinth House” is that it’s lyrics, especially those about ‘friends’ were referenced first on the song "The End," with Morrison having issues trusting anyone, even himself.Strangely enough, the song goes on to embrace Morrison’s eclectic readings, as Hyacinthus was, in Greek mythology, the lover of Apollo, and it was Apollo how accidentally killed Hyacinthus, and it was from Hyacinthus’ blood that Apollo created the Hyacinth flower, though perhaps it is some sort of psychological demon that was burning in the head of the Morrison, regarding himself and the killing of his band, or even more eerily, his own accidental death. Morrison was not the only one paying homage here, Ray Manzarek reached deeply into his classical training and reworked Chopin’s “Polonaise in A Flat Major, Op. 53”. All of that being said, others claim that Morrison was free forming the lyrics, and that the afore mention Hyacinth flowers were growing in abundance outside the window of Robbie Krieger’s small home in Laurel Canyon, with the reference to the ‘lion’ being a nod to Krieger’s actual pet bobcat. Most mysterious of all is the strange verse “I see the bathroom is clear,” which actually is not nonsensical, nor is it about paranoia, though to the atmosphere of the song it is, and proves that Morrison was making things up as he went along, with the song referencing that a friend had been hogging the bathroom all night, which Morrison needed to use, and was finally clear … though once in the bathroom, Morrison decided that the acoustics were perfect in there for recording his vocals, and that’s pretty much how it was done. That is not to say that the other material on this outing is not brilliant, because they are, I wear this album like a pair of hip-huggers jeans ... each song fits and feels so relentlessly good.Review by Jenell Kesler

Very happy with this copy. Album needed a cleaning from paper flakes but looked perfect after. Very nice press. No surface noise and sounds great to me.
Frey
I just bought this one, having read the good reviews here, and I must say I'm very disappointed. I thought it would beat the sound of my Mexican 1981 reissue (The Doors - L.A. Woman for which I also wrote a review), but it didn't. This one has richer bass than the Mexican one, but for sure lacks brilliance. It only sounds acceptable if you crank up the treble. On top of that it does have surface noise, very noticeable on slow passages and at song transitions. I'll return it to the store.
Miromice
Good overall, I would say "honest" sound. Fairly good bass, although the bass drum is drowned in the mix (can anyone comment on how it sounds in the original mix/first pressings?). Treble is ok, mids maybe could be better, but anyway the voice does stand out. 4 stars.
Gorisar
This 40th anniversary mix sounds great which is rare these days for remasters/remixes to be done right. Alternate takes of songs are a fun listen. Pick this one up.
Alsantrius
Really good pressing. Sounds amazing actually. Always worry about EU pressings, but this one is worth every penny. Great work!
Fordrellador
Have had this since it was reissued by Rhino. Just absolutely wonderful 8 years later. Dead quiet vinyl and detail galore. "Cars Hiss by My Window" is just perfect. The Doors S/T on Rhino is also well worth the investment.
Moonshaper
I just bought today this version from a record shop in Amsterdam. It does not mention anywhere where was it printed! What do you think?
Not-the-Same
The record shown in the above picture is a pressing from 1979-1982, because of the label design.
Loni
The record shown above is the red label variation (small logo), not used till 1979.

The copy of the album pictured above is not a 1971 issue. This looks like one of the last vinyl pressings before it went out-of print. This should be from about 1987. Actually, Elektra started using this logo on American pressings in 1983. The cover shown is a later version also. (without the rounded corners)
Deeroman
it seems i have the only shit copy of this pressing , mine is as noisy as a drunken sailor on a friday night , way too much crackle which seems to be due to low volume mastering .i bought it new and it looks near mint.can't reccommend .2/5
Doath
My version is identical to this issue with the following exceptions: "EKS-75011 STEREO" printed on the upper right front cover, and "T 0" etched on side A and "T 1" etched on side B. I'd add it as a variant of this issue, but for the printed catalogue number on cover. Assuming the image is incomplete, does yours have that characteristic?

Absolutely superb pressing, silent as a whisper and really well mastered.

I haven't heard Waiting For The Sun or Soft Parade yet but this album is the best one from the group I have heard since their debut album in my opinion. It's sad to think that it was their last, at least with Morrison. He may not have written all their hits but The Doors effectively died with Morrison. I have always enjoyed "Love Her Madly" and "Riders On The Storm" but listening to the entire album I have discovered other songs such as "L.A. Woman" and "The Changeling". Great stuff.

the second disc also as L.A. Woman: The Workshop Sessions, released two months later

Interesting: the record labels are misprinted: the label for Side A is on B and vice versa. Anyone else?!

mine's not ! :) it happened to another records i have instead
The Sphinx of Driz
For its age, an excellent sounding record! Full and rich soundstage and clarity. If only the one I've got wasn't a bit damaged (there's a white piece pressed into the vinyl, probably during production)
Yananoc
My version has a window in the sleeve and an yellow inner card with Jesus on the cross.
Malanim
My copy of this pressing sounds very good. Super quiet vinyl and a great mastering job. The packaging is worth a mention too - excellent quality.
crazy mashine
I bought a copy of this at my local swapmeet for $2, i saw on side B that the label was swayed in some way, not sure how to explain how it looks, doesn't affect the play, the vinyl is in decent condition just the final groove of the song (LA Women) keeps repeating it self, and I haven't found anything on the internet about these types of prints, could this be considered one of those "rare missprints" or is it something that just happen with this certain press?
Bloodray
I have an LP with the same matrix numbers but it has the red label. not sure what that means
Galanjov
I have this record. I identified it with EKS 75011 A // HD 15239-2-Y and EKS 75011 B // 15240-1-Y.However it is put into the 1st USA printed cover with yellow inner sleeve.
Wenes
Great album and remastering, but pressing contains too much background noise! If you are particular, you may want to forgo this issue and go straight for the 45 RPM Analogue Productions issue. This is the second Doors Rhino issue containing too much background noise.
Aloo
I have to say this is not my case, my copy is perfectly silent, great pressing, no noise.

This release here The Doors - L.A. Woman looks the same as The Doors - L.A. Woman and I think they such be merged? What you think?
Hawk Flying
Phenomenal sound quality on this pressing, classic Japan press from the era

Fantastic pressing. Got that lovely die cut half-tone sleeve too! Very nice altogether. Couldn't be happier with this.

Does this release not have an IFPI code in the mould?
Ximinon
just bought this on white vinyl didnt know it had round corners on sleeve wudnt have bought it
Nagis
That's the way this was originally issued! If you wanted a square cover, you should have bought a reissue and not complain about this pressing.
AnnyMars
I agree round sleeve is how this thing first was.
Ochach
On white vinyl? The original sleave does have round edges by the way.
Global Progression
??? Why would round sleeves turn you against purchasing the LP??? Seems like a ridiculous reason to me!!!

One of the best sounding recordings in my collection, great job by Bernie Grundman.

I actually listened to the Analogue Productions (AP) 45RPM re-issue (supposedly all analog cut, different remaster by Doug Sax) back to back with this Rhino today, and I still like Bernie Grundman digital cut version better. The AP version is a bit warmer but it also sounds like there is a blanket over the speakers, the tempo seems a bit too slow also (tapes werent run at correct speed?). I have a direct drive turntable so my turntable speed is correct (33 and 45 RPM).

thanks for the heads up - I always like to try out subsequent presses with high quality sound

L.A. Woman is not an album, it’s a Raymond Chandler novel set to music. And if you haven’t listened to these songs in a SRO hotel, one overlooking the Strip with no screen in the fourth floor corner window, cheap vintage chenille bedspread on metal springs, with the bathroom down the hall ... then you haven’t contextually heard it … and I should know, I still have Room Key 42, and a no longer working Sony cassette deck. The odd thing about “Hyacinth House” is that it’s lyrics, especially those about ‘friends’ were referenced first on the song ‘The End,’ with Morrison have issues trusting anyone, even himself.Strangely enough, the song goes on to embrace Morrison’s eclectic readings, as Hyacinthus was, in Greek mythology, the lover of Apollo, and it was Apollo how accidentally killed Hyacinthus, and it was from Hyacinthus’ blood that Apollo created the Hyacinth flower, though perhaps it is some sort of psychological demon that was burning in the head of the Morrison, regarding himself and the killing of his band, or even more eerily, his own accidental death.

Could not have put it better myself, this is a fantastic piece of work that really doesnt get the recognition it deserves from the average joe. I remember introducing a friend of mine to this album, and he didnt know much about the doors, but refused to listen to it because it didnt have the more well known tracks like break on through, touch me etc... boy did he feel stupid after listening to this album, he loved it!

I don't want an inferior digital playback format how about 2 X 150g vinyls and that yellow cellophane screen ???? a faultless album containing two global standards that ARE the Doors LA Woman and Riders On The Storm.Forcing people to buy 50 cent cost CD's for $30 is an insult netting a $20 + profit for an inferior product of wafer thin foil coated in plastic. This album was born on vinyl, was made for vinyl and I have no qualms in saying I bet my 41 year old vinyl will leave the digital audio of this CD standing. Infact the JVC promoted Best Of The Doors CD-4 Quadradisc of 4ch album containing Riders On The Storm just blows yor ears away as you are engulfed in the sound and are right there in the middle of the floor in the studio. This imposter CD can not and will not ever do that!

I purchased this item from the Australian Record Club in the seventies and after playing the B side discovered it is a miss pressing. B side is Otis Redding with such hits as "Dock of the Bay"! A side is normal Doors-LA Woman. Can anybody give me any info on what if anything this obscurity is worth?
nailer
i would say probably $35+

I have this but the cover is different from the image shown for the front cover. 'DOORS' is in black not filled white as shown.
Ce
original has rounded corners, clear plastic picture of the band members and yellow innersleeve. does that help?

Somebody please help I have around 20 beatles lps and Im trying to figure out if there originals along with this record...Thanks
Kage
Well... you have to look at the matrix / run out identifiers. Just google them and you will find out.
Kigul
tell me about the beatles lps.. if they are studio albums (please please me to let it be) then the labels should not show parlophone in a grey box, that would be a repressing from the 1978 collection box set
Laitchai
This is probably the best commercially recorded cassette I have heard... the sound is superb, and the record itself is probably the best thing The Doors did.
Fohuginn
think the some, the cassette is amazing!
