BBC Sessions by The Who was released 15 February 2000 on Polydor Records internationally and MCA Records in the U. It contains 24 songs and two jingles recorded live at the BBC studios in London. With the exception of the jingles being used to bookend the album, and the third track being misplaced, The Who's recordings are presented in chronological order. A most worthwhile find for the serious Who fan, comprising 27 tracks that the group recorded for the BBC between 1965 and 1970, the accent falling heavily on the 1965-67 period. Decent though not pristine sound and good performances, which usually don't deviate a great deal from the record, but are occasionally substantially different: Entwistle's bass, in particular, comes through much more strongly on some of the 1966-67 material. BBC RADIO 6 MUSIC. The two-part series on The Who continues. Before stadiums, concept albums and hotel destruction, The Who were a rhythm n blues band. this is yet another silver factory pressed cd of amazing who tracks from the 60s recorded for the bbc, of coarse this cd came out back in the early 90s before the official who bbc sessions cd/lp set was finally released in 2000, still what makes the boot versions better then the official release from 2000 is they all include SO SAD ABOUT US, for some reason pete did not want that one track released on the official release so we can always get one of the many boots of these recordings, this was a common boot....
this is another great unofficial live compilation of great 60s who tracks cut between 1965 and 1970, you get a lot of the same songs here you do on the bbc sessions volume 1 and 2 lp sets here on this one cd however some of these tracks where NOT bbc sessions so that means these are not the same takes as a bit of these where recorded on the old top gear show in the 60s and the symonds on sunday show, this comes in a lovely digi pack, it is a factory pressed german cd and even has a laminated digi color front sleeve, same photo session was used for this cd as for the volume 1 and 2 lp editions that came out in 1988 in italy however this is a different photo then that was printed on both of those lps but you can tell its all from the same photo session in 1966 or 67.
this was part 2 of the whos bbc sessions released as an lp set in italy back in 1988, i still feel with the exception of this older analog release both volumes of the bbc sessions from this series in 1988 was better then the official 2 lp release set from 12 years later in 2000, the first edition included so sad about us wich was NOT ON THE OFFICIAL RELEASE in 2000 and this one here offers up some other real gems like little demos like motherland feeling, dogs and real, as with volume 1 this comes in a nice thin laminated sleeve and has a much nicer sleeve shot on both volumes that represent this 1965 to 1970 era of the who then the official sleeve did, actually both lp sleeve shots are more on par with the 1966/67 who mod era, 2 great lps and if you are a who collector you need to own these.
this is a very nice compilation on viynl i purchased back in 1988, the lp consists of the whos earliest recordings for the bbc during 1965 and 1966 ( i also have a japan cd version of this) there is only one track here that did not make the official who bbc recordings lp/cd back in 2000, all else is here so basically if you are not a 100% completest and you need that one song this is a great collection to have especially the laminated glossy sleeve wich i like better then the sleeve used for the official 2000 release, there is a part 2 to this lp set as well with more who bbc recordings from 1966 and 67, BOTH have wonderful mid 60s mod shots like this lp does, to this day 26 years after i found this lp in a greenwich village shop in nyc it is one of the easier who boots to find on viynl for a good price, if you do not see it here on discogs, check ebay or ebay.co uk these seem to pop up often on this site as well as those 2 e bay sites, this one (part 1) and the second part 2 do not cost an arm and a leg fortunatlley
